At this year’s Photo Basel, LIGHTWORKS presents a curated selection of photographic works that celebrate innovation, craftsmanship, and the enduring power of visual storytelling.
Our presentation brings together a diverse yet harmonious group of artists—George Mayer, Sam Haskins, F.C. Gundlach, Luuk de Haan, Mark Arbeit, and Tony Potts—each offering a distinct lens on the human form, fashion, abstraction, and emotion.
George Mayer’s award-winning portraiture draws viewers into deeply psychological and conceptually rich visual narratives. His meticulously composed images blur the boundary between surrealism and classical portraiture, addressing themes of identity, beauty, and the subconscious.
Sam Haskins, known for revolutionising the photo book format, brings a graphic and sensual edge to photography. His bold compositions and celebration of the female form continue to influence generations of image-makers.
F.C. Gundlach’s fashion photography, iconic and impeccably constructed, captures the visual language of post-war elegance and avant-garde styling. His images are historical records and modernist artworks in equal measure.
Luuk de Haan explores rhythm, form, and colour through a digital abstract language rooted in the traditions of minimalism and modern design. His one-off compositions offer contemplative, almost musical visual experiences.
Mark Arbeit brings intimacy and poetry to the foreground. His delicate studies of the female form and nature—such as his signature dialogues between flowers and bodies—highlight the relationship between sensuality, time, and stillness.
Tony Potts captures fashion and form in stark monochrome, transforming his subjects into sculptural statements. His work invites viewers into a cinematic world where light, shadow, and attitude converge.

Horst, a master of light and composition, is known for his stunning fashion and portrait photography. Sam Haskins, another iconic photographer, is famous for his innovative use of graphic design and photography in creating photo books. F.C. Gundlach is known for his striking fashion photography, while Tony Potts is celebrated for his black and white nudes and fashion photographs. And finally, George Mayer's award-winning unique portraiture approach.

The works that LIGHTWORKS was exhibiting at the fair included pieces by renowned photographers such as Sam Haskins and F.C.Gundlach. We were also showcasing works by emerging artists like George Mayer and Tony Potts whose works are making waves in the art world.
